To be compliant in shipping and accepting dangerous goods by air, there are training requirements that commensurate with your position as a freight forwarder, shipper or operator to comply with IATA, ICAO and Transport Canada TDG regulations. CIFFA offers a variety of training options for your needs.
CIFFA offers initial training for those who have never shipped dangerous goods by air, as well as recurrent training for those who require recertification every 24 months. The International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations and International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) technical instructions are the principal resources for this course. CIFFA is an IATA Authorized Training School for classroom delivery, and a FIATA/ICAO authorized training school for both classroom and online delivery. These courses are designed from the freight forwarder's perspective, but can be taken by shippers and operators resulting in a category 6 certification.

Yes. You will need to acquire a copy of the latest IATA DGR to complete this course. CIFFA DOES NOT provide these books, where possible please arrange to use your employer’s DGR.
We recommend that you use the latest version as our course material is updated each year. The IATA DGR is released yearly. However, an older version can be used, as long as you google the IATA changes document relevant to this year’s DGR.
No, we do not sell the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, but if you email us we can direct you to groups that do. However, a 30 day electronic version of the IATA DGR can be purchased through CIFFA for an additional US$75.00.
None whatsoever. The IATA DG regulations are built from the ICAO technical instructions. IATA and ICAO work together to create the standard. Certification from either IATA or ICAO is accepted in an audit by transport Canada or IATA.
For all online and virtual classes a category 3 certification from FIATA/ICAO is provided. For in-class courses an IATA category 3 certification is provided.
Yes, this course is taught from the perspective of the freight forwarder / operator, but also uses case studies from a shipper's perspective.
